Research Technician (Part Time, Fixed Term)

The Department of Radiology is seeking to employ a part-time (up to a 0.6 FTE), Research Technician to join a small team providing essential support to a major research project at the department.

This role is part of the multidisciplinary Hyperpolariser research group. The role will be essential to support the Chief Investigator and Clinical Research Administrator in Radiology in the production and use of a specialist kit on multiple ongoing Research studies. This specialist kit requires a good level of manual dexterity in a cleanroom environment working in laminar flow cabinets.

The role holder will support the specialist team in their technical preparation, filling of the kits and associated administrative aspects of such preparation. The role holder will also assist the Research team in the processing of the kits before administration to patients. Administrative work may include but is not limited to maintaining process documentation, assisting in completion of relevant documentation during the aseptic filling process, contacting suppliers and other labs, creating databases and keeping accurate logs.

The post-holder will report the Clinical Research Administrator and Chief Investigator and duties will include work in a sterile environment (Grade A and B), work in a shared facility where radioactive work is also conducted, as well as work in a busy clinical environment.

The post holder will need to participate in any appropriate training and work closely with other members of the Radiology Department and also across multiple departments to ensure that comprehensive and consistent support is being provided.
