The Cambridge University Development and Alumni Relations Office is the alumni relations and fundraising arm of the University, responsible for raising major philanthropic gifts and building and sustaining lifelong links between Cambridge and its worldwide community of more than 300,000 alumni and supporters. With an outstanding track record of securing philanthropic income and overall responsibility for coordinating University-wide development campaigns, raising funds to support schools, faculties, departments and other central University institutions.
The Accounts Clerk is one of three positions under the line management of the Finance Manager and is responsible for the delivery of financial support within the Development and Alumni Relations Office.
Key duties of this post includes
-Create invoice batches on the University Finance System (CUFS) and enter invoices/expenses/credit memo details.
-Respond to queries from suppliers and employees to confirm the status of invoices/expense claims.
-Reconcile supplier statements.
-Create sales invoices using the Accounts Receivable module of CUFS based on information provided by the Senior Accounts Clerk.
-Prepare tax receipts for donors.
-Enter journal adjustments on the CUFS General Ledger, based on information provided by the Senior Accounts Clerk and Finance Manager.
Applicants should be educated to a minimum of 'A' level standard (or equivalent) including GCSE Maths and English (Grade A* - C); have excellent IT skills including competence with Microsoft Excel; have good written and oral communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy are key. Applicants should also be willing to work towards AAT or other accounting qualification and experience of working in an accounting/finance team would be advantageous.
Maternity cover: This post is fixed-term for 12 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
