A vacancy has arisen within the Departmental Secretariat.
Reporting to the Secretariat Supervisor, the successful candidate will be expected to provide ad-hoc administrative support to research groups and facilities within the Department, including but not limited to accounts and the library. In addition, and as part of the Departmental Secretariat Team, they be expected to assist in providing cover and support to both the Hopkins and Sanger Receptions, acting as the first point of contact for visitors. Whilst covering Reception, the successful candidate will be expected to answer and transfer telephone calls, circulate and respond to emails, sort and distribute post, issuing access cards and keys and respond to requests and queries from members of the Department. The successful candidate will also provide support to the Fire Manager during the fire evacuation procedure and inform senior members of the Department of any security related concerns.
The ideal candidate will have a good general education (GCSE standard including English and Maths), be prepared to work on their own initiative, have the ability to prioritise their work, be well organised, flexible in their approach and have excellent communication and IT skills.
