The Department of Engineering has a vacancy for a skilled Workshop Technician (Electronics) to join the Central Technical Services workshop, which supports world-leading research and teaching. The post offers variety and challenge in a stimulating modern and continually improving well-equipped environment.
Working closely with research and teaching staff as part of the technical team that provides key support and guidance the main responsibilities of the post will include design, manufacturing, assembly, programming and operation of very sophisticated equipment and teaching and supervising practical skills to undergraduates in the Dyson Centre for Engineering Design.
You should have proven practical electronics construction experience (from electronics, test and measurement through to precision mechanical assembly) and be fully familiar with a wide range of workshop machinery and techniques. Experience with CNC machinery, CAD/CAM and motion control software would be a considerable advantage, although training will be given.
The successful applicants should be educated to A level or have completed a recognised apprenticeship in electronics engineering. They should also have sound IT and communication skills
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
