The Accelerate EAST initiative brings together Universities, FE colleges, businesses and other organisations, along with the region's MPs, across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, to address regional economic growth and social mobility. It was set up in response to the Government's Industrial Strategy, and is now developing an initial programme of work. Administrative support is provided by the University of Cambridge.
We are seeking a Project Manager to take responsibility for delivery of various work streams as these are agreed by the Steering Group. The first work stream will deliver 'Opportunity Days' to year seven students in the region's secondary schools. These aim to engage our young people with the wide range of opportunities open to them across the region, and will take the form of a half-day workshop, including information on careers, education and training pathways, a hands-on STEM activity, and case studies from young employees in regional companies. They will be delivered as a pilot in 2018 and fully rolled out in 2019. A working group has been convened from within the Accelerate EAST membership, and we already have agreement from a small number of schools to be involved in the pilot.
Candidates will need to be educated to degree level, or have an equivalent amount of practical experience. Previous project management experience is essential, and experience within the education sector would be advantageous. The role will require strong organisational skills, an ability to work across a diverse range of stakeholders and a highly proactive approach.
