Programme Manager (TIGR2ESS) (Maternity Cover)

Applications are invited for a fixed term appointment or secondment to the role of TIGR2ESS Programme Manager.

TIGR2ESS (Transforming India's Green Revolution by Research and Empowerment for Sustainable food Supplies) is a programme which aims to define the requirements for a new green revolution in India, and strengthen research capacity in the UK and India. It will deliver fundamental research projects and facilitate researcher exchanges, leading to improved health, productivity and livelihoods for smallholder (particularly female) farmers in India.

The Programme Manager leads co-ordination of daily programme activities, establishing partnerships and managing appointments with UK and Indian institutions. They facilitate exchanges between project partners and researchers; report progress to meetings of the Executive Leadership Group and International Advisory Board; ensure co-ordination of workshops, fieldwork, safety procedures and meetings in the UK and India. They contribute to development of mechanisms to validate and deliver cost recovery to partner organisations.

The successful candidate will have a good first degree; a PhD in a relevant field is desirable. They will have experience within a higher education, industry or government environment and knowledge of programme management. They will be able to synthesise and articulate concepts and present complex data. They will have the capacity to foster relationships with partner institutions, funding agencies, government and policy makers. They will have excellent writing and IT skills, proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work pro-actively and independently.

Funding for this post is available for 12 months or the return of the post-holder, whichever is the earlier. The post-holder currently works full-time but we would be pleased to hear from applicants wishing to work on a part-time basis.
