The Arts & Humanities Libraries wish to recruit a Library Assistant to help with providing a friendly, accessible service to users across three library spaces and contributing to the work of these library teams. With a base in the English Faculty Library, this Library Assistant will also work at the Casimir Lewy Library (Philosophy), as well as the Divinity Faculty Library.
A key responsibility of the role holder is to staff the Issue Desk, and to provide reader services support. While on duty they deal with circulation transactions as required, and offer appropriate support to new users of the Libraries.
There are specific responsibilities in each Library which may be achieved by remote working online at another library/workplace or require the role holder to be physically present in that particular Library. These duties may vary depending on the library team, but tasks will include ordering, receipting and cataloguing material, and adding information to the VLE (Moodle). Communications and marketing of library services and resources are additional areas of work. Further duties may include other routine library work.
The role holder will have a helpful and supportive attitude and be a good team worker with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
The Library environment has extensive learning and development opportunities and it is expected that the role holder will display a keen interest in learning.
