The Department of Land Economy is looking to appoint a Research Associate on a 10-month contract to assist on a project - Mining the built environment characteristics of Beijing using machine learning. The appointed person will participate in the research of the Department of Land Economy in Cambridge and contribute to the organization of research and related activities.
The Research Associate will conduct research under the topic of 'analysing the built environment of Beijing using machine learning methods'. The research includes developing machine learning models for the automatic and large-scale evaluation of various aspects of urban built environment, such as the height-width-ratio of streets, the amount of street shops, the coverage of greenery, etc., and then linking the physical features with human behaviour and urban policy making.
The role will also involve some administrative work, supervisions of master students and application of research projects.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 10 months in the first instance.
