The Breast Cancer Research Programme in the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre is looking to appoint a Research Assistant/Associate in Biostatistics. The post holder will develop breast cancer prognostic and treatment benefit prediction models and implement them in the PREDICT web tool (www.predict.nhs.uk). The specific role of the post holder will be to incorporate novel molecular biomarkers into the existing PREDICT model.
Applicants should have a Masters (or equivalent) in a relevant subject (e.g. in biostatistics, epidemiology or quantitative science) or PhD (or equivalent), or expect to obtain a PhD shortly, and will have good statistical programming skills using standard statistical software such as R. In addition, applicants will need to be able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills; enthusiasm to interact with colleagues; and the ability to organise time and work effectively, independently and responsibly in a research team setting.
Where the successful applicant does not yet have a PhD, they will normally be appointed as a Research Assistant, on the understanding that they will be appointed as a Research Associate upon successful completion of their PhD.
