We are looking for a full-time Research Assistant to join the group of Dr. Felipe Karam Teixeira at the Department of Genetics (https://www.gen.cam.ac.uk/research-groups/karam-teixeira). The successful candidate will be responsible for applying a number of molecular genetics techniques to support a range of projects being carried out in our research group - we are primarily interested on germline development and we use Drosophila as a model system.
Experience in standard molecular biology techniques (including genotyping, cloning, and RT-qPCR) is essential. Prior experience in fly genetics would be an advantage, although training can be provided where necessary. Other duties also include purchasing laboratory reagents and contributing to the maintenance of the lab.
Candidates should have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in a relevant biological subject. The successful candidate should show initiative, possess good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Excellent organisation and record keeping skills are necessary.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
