The University Library is looking to recruit a Warehouse Operative (Van Driver) for the Library Storage Facility. The Library Storage Facility will provide long-term storage for low/no use printed material acquired by the main University Library, affiliated libraries and other faculty and departmental libraries of the University.
The role holder will support the operations of the Library Storage facility (LSF) by collecting and delivering material from University departments to support the ingest, request and return of materials to the LSF. The role holder will be required to flexibly perform a variety of other tasks, including operating manual handling equipment, retrieving and refilling material in the warehouse and processing material for despatch and return. The Warehouse Operative will also be expected to complete a range of tasks as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor in order to maintain the efficient and safe operations of the Warehouse.
The role holder will be a strong team player/contributor with effective communication skills and be able to respond to issues happening around the LSF, escalating them where appropriate, and using safe and considerate working methods at all times.
Applicants must be experienced and reliable drivers with a clean driving licence. If invited for interview you will be requested to provide a DVLA code to enable us to complete a check of your licence. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure check (criminal records check), a health assessment and a security check.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 3 April 2020 in the first instance.
