Applications for secondment to the role of Interim Academic Secretary are invited. The focus of the interim role is to support academic strategy and planning and in particular to support the incoming Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Strategy and Planning. The precise configuration of the role will depend on whether the recommendations in the Joint Report of the Council and the General Board on the establishment of an Education Division, Research Division, and Strategic Partnerships Division (published on 6 June 2018) are approved. The new arrangements would come into effect on 1 August 2018.
The Interim Academic Secretary will lead on the provision of support for academic strategy and planning in order to strengthen and enhance the support for cross School and NSI activity (including interdisciplinary initiatives) and to enable the effective integration of administration across the University.
Candidates will be experienced in developing and implementing strategies and/or plans across diverse areas. Intellectual rigour and a positive and collaborative approach are key, as is the ability to analyse and distil significant volumes of information.
The post is offered to internal candidates only, for one year, on the basis of a secondment from his or her current role.
