The Faculty of Classics is seeking to appoint a Temporary Language Teaching Assistant from 01 September 2018 until 31 August 2019. This post is open to those at any stage in their career, and would provide an opportunity for early career starters to increase their skills in Ancient Greek and Latin language teaching in particular and in teaching in general. The successful applicant will benefit from the world-class facilities offered by the University and the generous support of research and teaching provided by the Faculty.
The teaching 'stint' will be 240 hours over three terms, comprising intensive language-learning programmes (principally, "Intensive Greek" but also Latin classes). In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to take a full part the Pre-term IG language teaching and as marker and/or assessor of language papers across the Tripos.
We are seeking an individual with a strong teaching record and potential to make a significant contribution to the Faculty. Candidates will need to show evidence of the following skills and experience:
-Evidence of ability to teach Greek and Latin language effectively, and at all relevant levels;
-Ability to play an effective role in the life and work of the Faculty as a whole;
-Ability to work as part of a team.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
