A position is available for a highly motivated post-doctoral research associate working on the spatial regulation of photosynthesis gene expression and evolution of C4 photosynthesis.
The successful applicant will join Professor Julian Hibberd's laboratory in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Cambridge. The project will focus on understanding mechanisms that regulate gene expression in specific cells of leaves, by assessing cell specific gene expression, patterns of transcription factor binding and then the relationships between the two phenomena. Functional testing will be undertaken via gene editing and the main chassis for this work will be A. thaliana. Findings will be relevant to photosynthesis generally and the C4 pathway in particular.
The position is available from October 2018 onwards. The successful candidate will have a strong background in plant molecular biology including a PhD in a relevant area. Experience with spatial regulation of gene expression, synthetic biology approaches and evolution will be advantageous. Information on the laboratory is available at hibberdlab.com.
