Applications are invited for a part-time (18.5 hours per week) Accounts Assistant within the Department of Oncology based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
The post holder will undertake a full range of accounts duties in Payables, Receivables, Purchasing and General Ledger. The post holder will report to the Department's Senior Accounts Clerk and will also be a first point of contact for accounts enquiries within the Department as a whole.
The Department of Oncology is an academic department within the School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cambridge. Our Head of Department is Professor Richard Gilbertson, a world leading expert on childhood brain tumours, who is also Director of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Cancer. We are a multi-site department based on or close to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The department includes 18 Research Group Leaders, many of whom are clinicians, and 130 staff and students. The Department of Oncology currently holds grants totaling £67m.
Applicants should have a good general education, to include GCSE or equivalent, must include English and Maths, and have good IT skills, particularly MS Excel and Word. Knowledge of CUFS is advantageous although training will be given. Some experience of working in an accounts environment is desirable. The successful candidate will have good oral and written communication skills and the ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
