Research Associate (Fixed Term)

The Department of Sociology in the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, to join the Wellcome trust funded research project 'Changing (In)fertilities' co-directed by Professor Sarah Franklin and Professor Marcia Inhorn.

The project is based within the Reproductive Sociology Research Group ( in the Cambridge Sociology Department.

The postholder will be in charge of the 'Stratified (In)fertilities' Work Package, and will both conduct their own original research in this area, and compile annual summaries of current research in this field, as well as participate in the activities of the research team, and help with project events and administration.

In addition to conducting their own individual scholarly research on reproductive stratification, the postholder will play a key role in the delivery of the research objectives of the 'Changing (In)fertilities' project, which explores changes in both the perception of (in)fertility and (in)fertility behaviours. Liaising with other members of a global research team to synthesize findings, and providing reviews of recent research in this area will be complemented by integrating the postholder's own research into this project.

The successful candidate should have a PhD in a relevant field, expertise in the social study of reproduction, reproductive technologies or reproductive biomedicine, good writing abilities and the ability to work as part of a team.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years from 3rd September 2018 until 2nd September 2021
