We are seeking an experienced administrator to join the team in the Office of the School of the Humanities and Social Sciences. In this varied part-time role, you will provide administrative support and coordination for a range of initiatives which span the University's Social Sciences Research Programme, including a £1M research programme funded by the Philomathia Foundation, multiple research collaborations with international institutions, and various internal grant funding schemes. This is an opportunity to gain experience of a high-profile research programme and to work independently and creatively in a coordination role.
Duties will include: coordination of internal funding schemes and their associated review committees; administrative support to the School Director of Research; event management and professional communications, including webpage maintenance and liaison with external bodies e.g. collaborating institutions, the Philomathia Foundation, and UK funders such as ESRC; organisation of international symposia and related research events; periodic formal reporting and oversight of financial management; cross-cover within the School Office administration team.
The ideal candidate will be educated to first-degree standard or equivalent with extensive administrative experience, ideally within a research/academic environment. You will be conversant with standard office software and possess excellent organisational, communication and time management skills. You should have strong attention to detail, be good at meeting deadlines and multi-tasking and be able to work independently. A flexible approach is essential to respond to emerging priorities. Experience of research grant management, event management and/or website support would be an advantage.
