An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Animal Technician to join our dynamic, hardworking, and committed team in the busy Cancer Research UK, Cambridge Institute situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the care and welfare of small rodent cancer models housed within the facility. The role will be based in either the Experimental part of the facility or the Breeding area depending on the expertise of the applicant. Within the Experimental area they will be expected to assist and support in licensed procedures delegated to the department. Within the Breeding area they will be expected to manage a colony of transgenic mice in close collaboration with the colony owner. In both areas the role holder will build a working relationship with the colony owners and attend experimental lab meetings. Training will be provided to applicants in areas that experience is limited.
The successful candidate will be able to work both independently and as part of a dedicated team and will ideally hold or be working towards the Institute of Animal Technology Membership qualification and/or a relevant HNC together with appropriate animal technology and laboratory experience (A Home Office Personal Licence Modules A, B and C, further training will be given for modules 20, 21 and 22).
The unit operates a rota system to provide cover at weekends and Bank Holidays. Candidates will therefore be required to work outside of normal working hours.
