Applications are invited for a part time Research Project Manager (0.65 FTE) in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, to join and manage a research programme funded by the UK Medical Research Council to develop clinical informatics for mental health research.
The project involves approximately 11 senior scientists and 8 project-specific staff including the post-holder, and spans the University of Cambridge (Department of Psychiatry; Department of Computer Science and Technology), the NHS (Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, Cambridge University Health Partners), Microsoft Research UK. There are collaborations with other UK institutions as part of the MRC Mental Health Data Pathfinder Programme.
The broad themes are (1) consolidating and extending the reach of the CPFT Research Database in a national context, through the secure de-identification and analysis of data collected in the course of clinical care; (2) improving the range and depth of structured clinical and cognitive data in mental health records, through the development and application of software tools created in the University; (3) tackling the mortality gap in serious mental illness, by applying machine learning techniques to healthcare data; (4) democratizing mental health research, through the development of methods to support clinician- and patient-led research and, via patient/public involvement (PPI), the development of NHS consent models relating to research with potential national applicability.
The post-holder will be responsible for the overall administration and management of the programme, under the direction of the principal investigator and the programme oversight committee. The role will entail: management of the project including postdoctoral, programming, and PPI staff; management of the budget of £1.5m over 2 years; liaison with the funding body; coordination of project evaluation; interviewing; writing reports; and scheduling/monitoring the research activities to ensure they align with the overall plan and objectives. Experience of research project management is essential.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 March 2020 in the first instance.
