Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position funded by a Wellcome Trust Major Award to Professor Sir Stephen O'Rahilly. You will work with a small team focused on supporting scientists within the Institute of Metabolic Science who use gene targeting to generate models of human metabolic disease including obesity and diabetes.
Applicants should have BSc or equivalent degree in Biochemistry, Genetics or a related discipline. Experience in mammalian cell culture and a range of standard molecular biology techniques is a requirement, as are good communication and team-work skills. Excellent organisational and record keeping skills are essential. Ideally, you will also have skills in Embryonic Stem Cell culture, DNA cloning, recombinant DNA methods and experience with analysis of transgenic organisms.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.
