Research Assistant x 2 (Fixed Term)


The MRC Epidemiology Unit is recruiting two Research Assistants as part of the National Institute for Health Research Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre Nutritional Biomarker Laboratory (NBL). The NBL aims are to develop and apply methods for nutritional biomarker analysis. The lab is led by Dr Albert Koulman and, together with other team members, the goal is to establish the NBL as a world leading laboratory for the analysis of nutritional biomarkers.

The post holders will be working on the analysis of nutritional biomarkers in human samples for the National Diet and Nutrition Survey as well as other projects, studies or trials, within the Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre as well as national and international collaborators.

The successful candidates will have a degree (or an equivalent qualification) and proven skills in laboratory methodologies. We are looking for individuals with a strong technical background, extensive experience with laboratory measurements using liquid chromatography for nutritional or clinical research. We are especially interested in candidates who also have experience with one or more of the following techniques: gas chromatography or mass spectrometry, ELISA, Immunoassay and biochemical assays. A flexible approach, good organisational and communication skills, together with a keen eye for detail is essential.

These are fixed-term positions until 31 December 2022.
