Applications are invited for a full-time Patient & Public Involvement (PPI) Research Lead in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge, to join a research programme funded by the UK Medical Research Council to develop clinical informatics for mental health research.
The University and its NHS partners including Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) support an ongoing programme to anonymise clinical data for use in research into the causes and consequences of mental health conditions. The PPI Lead will be the main link between the clinical informatics programme and patients and the public, widely disseminating information about data-focused research, including the use of anonymised NHS clinical data. The PPI Lead will consult widely with patients and the public, seeking their views on information sharing and research, and will also be a source of information on how people might participate in face-to-face research. The post-holder will develop prototype consent methods that are simple, tiered, cover a wide set of domains (e.g. from textual information to biological samples), are applicable across the NHS, and are capable of national use. The PPI Lead will interact with clinicians and other PPI staff across the mental health Trust, and contribute to ethics approvals and information-sharing agreements between the NHS and the University. The post-holder will be required to travel from time to time as part of ongoing engagement with other research/NHS centres contributing to the MRC's Mental Health Data Pathfinder programme, to learn from and to disseminate best practice.
Informal enquiries may be directed to Dr Rudolf Cardinal (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 March 2020 in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with children's barred list).
