The CPRD (Clinical Practice Research Datalink) is an anonymised database of the primary care records of five million current UK patients. The CPRD at Cambridge team is a multidisciplinary team based in the Primary Care Unit (PCU) that aims to increase the quantity and quality of CPRD-based research across the university by facilitating analyses on this and other related datasets. The PCU sits within the Department of Public Health and Primary Care and the successful applicant would work under the CPRD Business Manager to provide project specific research support and guidance to customers accessing CPRD through the Department.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience of data management and the handling of large and complex health records systems to work within the existing CPRD team of clinical and non-clinical colleagues. The post-holder will be able to demonstrate programming, analytical and statistical skills and will contribute to a wide range of projects within the PCU as well as the Department of Public Health and Primary Care and the wider University of Cambridge. The post holder will be educated to higher degree level (PhD or masters) or have equivalent relevant experience.
The CPRD Data Manager will act as one of the CPRD fob holders for the Primary Care Unit performing data extraction and processing from the CPRD database and collaborating in the development of novel scripts.
They will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with data management requirements in conjunction with the PCU Data Manager and advise customers on experimental design, data quality control, data processing, data management and statistical analysis.
The CPRD Data Manager will also ensure that assigned project tasks are undertaken to the specification, standard and timescales required as agreed with the customer, CPRD Business Manager and others as required and provide customers, colleagues and students with technical advice on matters relating to the use of CPRD data.
