A PhD position in the area of control and optimization with applications in smart grids and/or biological networks is available at the University of Cambridge, Department of Engineering with a start date on October 1st 2018. Full funding for both fees and maintenance will be provided to UK applicants or EU applicants who have been resident in the UK for 3 years prior to the start date. The project will be supervised by Dr Ioannis Lestas (email@example.com) who can also be contacted for any inquiries. Applicants with interests in control theory and/or power systems and/or biological networks are encouraged to apply. A background in these areas is not a prerequisite and applicants with a background in mathematics, engineering or physics are also strongly encouraged to apply.
Applicants should have (or expect to obtain by the start date) at least a good 2.1 degree.
