Applications are invited for a Part-Time, Fixed Term Research Administrator to work with, and provide administrative support for, the research group of Dr Marc Tischkowitz. Dr Tischkowitz's research covers all areas of hereditary cancer and translating the recent advances in genomic technology into clinical practice. The successful applicant will work closely with Dr Tischkowitz and other members of the team and his/her goal will be to play a leading role in the research programme.
The post will cover a broad range of administrative and secretarial duties to support the research team as a whole. Responsibilities will include: audio typing, generating and sending recruitment packs to newly registered participants to the studies and coordinating the recruitment of patients by research nurses based in collaborating centres; creating and updating spreadsheets providing financial and other important data for the studies; developing and maintaining websites for the various projects; data entry (including use of pedigree drawing programs), assisting with grant submissions and other general administrative duties like arranging meetings and maintaining filing systems.
The successful applicant will work under the guidance of Dr Tischkowitz and will liaise with other research teams, medical staff, volunteers and research participants so must be a confident communicator. Experience of working in an academic/clinical/research environment is essential and project management within the University or NHS is desirable as there is a significant amount of data entry and the successful applicant will be required to work to a high level of accuracy. Applicants should be educated to A-level standard, be numerate and self-motivated with excellent organisational and IT skills. A knowledge of web development tools is desirable but not essential.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 April 2019 in the first instance.
