Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and motivated information professional to fill the full time post of Librarian for the Casimir Lewy Library in the Faculty of Philosophy. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of this subject library, providing an effective and efficient library service for undergraduates, postgraduates, senior members, research students and visiting scholars. In addition, you will work alongside subject library staff across the School of Arts and Humanities Libraries in delivering an excellent library service to support teaching and research.
The role supports Faculty teaching activities through active involvement in reading list management, collection development, information literacy development, and VLE (Moodle) administration. Some knowledge of the subject areas covered by the Library would be an advantage. You will provide support for Faculty research and outreach activities which requires excellent attention to detail, and a familiarity with information management systems, IT tools and software. An enquiring mind with respect to technical developments will be an advantage.
To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate an adaptable and flexible approach to delivering library services. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential; collaboration within a small local team as well as within the broader information landscape at the University will be required. You should be able to work independently and with autonomy as appropriate. You should demonstrate analytical and evaluative skills, and have a creative and practical approach to problem-solving.
