Applications are invited for the post of Library Assistant in the Legal Deposit Department.
The principal duties include all aspects of the receipt and preparation of the legal deposit intake, including assisting with the weekly unloading of the delivery from the Agency for the Legal Deposit Libraries and shelving processed material to await cataloguing and classification. The quantity of material averages about a thousand items in each weekly delivery. Some very basic cataloguing (only of material received via other departments or direct from publishers) is required when no records are found to import from external databases.
You must be prepared to work in any area of the main University Library or in its affiliated libraries at a similar level of work should this be required.
Applicants should have a good educational background, be enthusiastic, adaptable, and have a good eye for detail. The ability to work well as part of a team is essential.
Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 1 year or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
