Business Analyst (Fixed Term)


This role will work as part of the University Information Services' Programme and Project Office (PPO). The Business Analyst will work closely with functional and technical teams to assess and document current practice, design, develop and document future processes and working practices, gather and document user requirements, develop functional specifications, facilitate business improvements and ensure each of these aspects is approved by the relevant users or stakeholders so that solutions align with customer expectations. The role holder will also be responsible for engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, from end users through to senior managers, and will be expected to act as an interface between technical and non-technical teams and individuals.

A significant programme of work is currently taking shape to support the HR Division deliver a range of improvements. This role will initially work as a key part of that team to with a focus on exploiting opportunities to improve processes, gathering requirements to facilitate the development of IT solutions and working with stakeholders to embed change.

You will undertake cross-cutting business analysis work across a busy and complex landscape requiring you to build an understanding of priorities and needs in order to support teams during business change.

You will work directly with colleagues in the Programme Team and also contribute as a member of the UIS BA team, part of the Programme and Project Office.

You will be an excellent communicator, skilled at forming effective working relationships with all stakeholders, and must be fully adept at gathering business requirements. You will be pragmatic with the ability to focus on the detail as well as seeing the wider context. A good understanding and experience of both agile and waterfall approaches is desirable. You will also have experience of identifying business improvement opportunities using workshops and a variety of approaches, as appropriate.

This position will be offered as a 12 month fixed term initially, with the possibility to extend subject to performance and funding.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 1 years in the first instance.
