Applications are invited for the position of Custodian at the Institute of Criminology. The position is permanent and full-time and the successful candidate will be expected to start as soon as possible.
The Institute of Criminology has approximately 60 staff and 130 postgraduate students in total. The building comprises 2142 square metres over 5 floors and includes academic offices, research centres, a Library, 2 seminar rooms, a common room, catering facilities and a student computer room.
The post holder will be part of a small custodial team (comprising the post holder and 1 Cleaner/Porter) and will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, maintenance and safety of the Institute. S/he will be expected to supervise the Cleaner/Porter and occasional agency cleaners, as required.
The post holder also supports reception staff by covering for lunchbreaks and at other times as required.
Applicants are required to have a good general education (GCSE level or above) or equivalent level of relevant practical experience. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential, in order to interact with staff and visitors at all levels, as is experience of working in a similar role.
