Functional Analyst / Trainee Functional Analyst


The Finance Systems Functional Analyst sits within the Financial Systems Group (FSG) within the Finance Division. This team is made up of members of the Finance and University Information Services Divisions and is responsible for the development, maintenance and support of Finance related IT systems.

Whilst it is expected that the trainee Functional Analyst will already have a good grounding in Oracle eBusiness suite at a system administration level, they will follow a defined progression plan which will enable them to understand how new features of the Oracle eBusiness suite can benefit The University; as well as articulating and defining major functional changes to the University financial systems, resolving complex problems and will work with a focus on customer support adopting the principles of a service delivery approach in their day to day work.

The Financial Systems Group fosters a culture of striving for continuous improvement. The Finance Systems trainee Functional Analyst will facilitate in promoting this approach, working closely with users of the University Financial Systems, colleagues in FSG, members of UIS technical teams and within project teams. They will develop the specialist knowledge and skills necessary to specify enhancements of the University's financial systems in line with strategic aims and objectives.

The Cambridge University Financial System (CUFS) is used across the University and its departments for all financial processing, recording income, expenditure, assets and liabilities. CUFS is based on the Oracle eBusiness suite, and has 8 modules, including: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, iProcurement, Fixed Assets, Cash Management, Inventory and Grants. CUFS currently has over 3,000 users and receives over 12,000 helpdesk calls per annum.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a health assessment and a security check.
