Higher Degrees Administrator - Biological Sciences

We are looking to appoint a friendly and well organised full-time administrator to join a small team working in the office of the School of the Biological Sciences in central Cambridge.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your administrative and communication skills to support the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Biology which oversees the graduate education of over 1,200 PhD and Masters students. The role's primary purpose is to maintain smooth administration of all student matters on behalf of the Degree Committee and to support Graduate Administrators across 15 Departments and Partner Institutes in the provision of graduate education. This includes processing applications for admission to the University on behalf of the Degree Committee, monitoring student records and processing applications for changes in circumstances including intermissions and working away, and contributing to the agenda and paperwork for the Degree Committee. The role holder also has direct responsibility for overseeing the examinations process of all graduate students in the Faculty of Biology.

Our ideal candidate will be able to communicate clearly and effectively both in written work and orally with staff and students throughout the University and be able to work with colleagues in wide range of professional roles. Excellent customer service skills are required and previous experience in a customer focused office environment is desirable. You will be educated to at least A-level standard, and will need to be able to prioritise your own workload and be able to work effectively on your own as well as within a small group.
