The Assistant Director (Academic Services) is a member of the Cambridge University Library Senior Leadership Team responsible for the planning and delivery of the Library's strategic priorities across all its libraries, services and functions. The Assistant Director will contribute to the strategic and operational success of Cambridge University Library in support of educational and research excellence.
The role holder will be responsible for leading the strategic library service development in support of teaching and learning across the affiliated libraries network. S/he will be the principal contact for key stakeholders from the six Schools of the University, building and maintaining highly effective working relationships with academic staff, senior administrators and the library community across the University to ensure that library services and resources meet the changing needs of the Cambridge community. S/he will work with the Deputy Director (Scholarly Communication and Research Services) to ensure effective coordination of library research support across the affiliated network.
The role holder will demonstrate leadership in developing a highly motivated and progressive team of senior managers with a user-oriented approach to service development and continuous improvement. S/he will ensure that innovative, coherent and value-added services are delivered in a hybrid library environment in support of diverse user needs. S/he will also oversee the team's activities in relation to access, collection development, collection management and assessment for education and research.
