Teaching/General Laboratory Technician[Temporary Cover] (Secondment)


Fixed-term: 31 December 2018.

Applications are invited for secondment cover for the post of teaching technician to join the Department of Chemistry. This important role within the department has responsibility for keeping the Department's lecture theatres and the meeting rooms running smoothly, including ensuring all the equipment is working correctly, and providing general assistance in a teaching laboratory.

Saturday morning working is required during term time.

Duties will include setting up all aspects of the lecture theatres and meeting rooms and working in the teaching laboratory during the practical chemistry courses and outside term time, dealing with students' general requirements and assisting the preparation of the laboratory.

With a science related BTEC or equivalent, the successful candidate will be able to think clearly and quickly when working under pressure, use their own initiative, have good communication skills, be computer literate and have the ability to deal with a wide range of people at all levels.

  • Secondment Cover: The funds for this post are available until 31/12/2018 or the return of the post holder whichever is the earlier in the first instance. This role may be suitable for a secondment opportunity within the University of Cambridge.
