Applications are invited for the position of Finance Assistant at the Institute of Criminology. The position is full-time and is available from 1st February, 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The Institute of Criminology is a growing academic department with around 55 members of staff . The Institute is highly active in research and is home to four specialist research centres. The Institute specialises in postgraduate teaching and also runs two part-time MSt programmes.
The Finance Assistant is responsible for all accounts payable and receivable administration, purchase orders and petty cash. The role-holder would also run and review University Financial System reports, maintain, file and archive financial records and be the first point of contact for all financial matters within the Institute.
The role-holder would report to the Finance Coordinator and work in the Accounts Office alongside the Finance Coordinator and Research Grants Administrator.
The role-holder would be educated to A-level standard/NVQ level 3 or have an equivalent level of practical experience. Knowledge of standard Microsoft packages, with a particular knowledge of Excel is essential. Experience of working with the Cambridge University Financial System (CUFS) would be desirable, however previous experience of working in an accounts environment is essential. The role-holder would be expected to have excellent communication and organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The ability to manage workloads, to tight deadlines, in a very busy office is essential.
