Research Assistant/Associate (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited from post-doctoral scientists to join a group, directed by Prof. Vassilis Koronakis (Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator), using structural, biochemical and biophysical approaches to characterise membrane drug efflux transporters (e.g. Crow et al 2017, PNAS) and other medically-important membrane machineries.

Applicants should have a PhD, or expect to obtain one shortly, and a background in X-ray crystallography or cryoelectron microscopy. Experience of working with membrane protein complexes is required and familiarity with multidrug efflux pumps would be particularly beneficial. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, coupled with excellent communication, organizational and problem solving skills are also required

Where the successful applicant does not yet have a PhD, he/she will normally be under-appointed as a Research Assistant in a Research Associate post (on the understanding that he/she will be appointed as a Research Associate upon successful completion of his/her PhD). The higher Research Associate salary should be backdated to the submission date of their thesis or start date whichever is the later.

The further duties/responsibilities of this post are outlined in the Further Information Documents.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 August 2020 in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
