Research Associate - Large scale manufacturing of photonic cellulose pigments (Fixed Term)

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 15 months in the first instance.

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate to work within the group of Dr. Silvia Vignolini at the Department of Chemistry. The position will be focused on the large scale manufacturing of photonic cellulose pigments.

The successful applicant is expected to work closely with colleagues in different disciplines, have excellent communications skills (oral and writing) and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in physics or chemistry with clear experience of colloidal chemistry, self-assembly and emulsion science. A deep knowledge and understanding of both polymer chemistry and the manufacturing of films and coatings is required. Expertise in cellulose nanocrystals and photonics/optics would be advantageous. Industrial experience and/or experience in collaboration with industrial partners is appreciated.
