Applications are invited for the manager of the Mathematics Undergraduate Office which provides a shared service to the two Mathematics Departments (the Department of Applied Mathematics & Theoretical Physics and the Department of Pure Mathematics & Mathematical Statistics).
You will be responsible for managing all Undergraduate Office activities in a busy faculty, in particular the administration of both the undergraduate examinations, as well as those for the Faculty's two taught Masters courses, totaling 90-100 examinations annually. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be confident in providing leadership and management to a small team of 4 people. Other duties include acting as first point of contact for internal and external queries relating to the course, and providing support to the Secretary of the Faculty Board. The workload is particularly busy in the lead up to exams and the successful person will need diary flexibility in order to work additional hours during the exam period in May/June.
You will be able to demonstrate a proactive approach to planning the annual cycle of the teaching calendar, excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, and the ability to take on and understand new tasks and processes quickly. In addition you should be educated to at least A-level standard together with strong IT skills to include familiarity with standard PC applications and webpages. Knowledge of specialist scientific applications such as LaTeX, or willingness to learn, as well as knowledge of internal systems, such as CamSIS and Moodle, would be an advantage.
