Applications are invited for a University Lectureship in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Cambridge with effect from 1 June 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Department offers excellent facilities for teaching and research, and has particular interests in cell signalling, cancer, macromolecular structure, neuropharmacology and vascular pharmacology. We are seeking to recruit within the broad field of molecular pharmacology and cell signalling.
The role holder will be based in Central Cambridge. The key duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to: mentoring and giving lectures and seminars to undergraduate / graduate students (including marking their work), taking an active part in examinations, carrying out active research and writing papers on topics relevant to the specialist subject area (this will include journals, books and other material), actively investigating funding opportunities within the area of research and submitting research grant applications. The successful applicant should have a PhD in a relevant specialist subject area and be developing a bibliography of research publications. They will keep up-to-date with the latest thinking in their specialist subject area by reading other academic material, attending conferences and active discussions with other academics in the field. The successful candidate will also have a strong track record in teaching at a higher education institution.
Appointments will be made at University Lecturer level with a probationary period of five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter. The starting salary, depending upon experience, will be in the range of £39,992 - £50,618pa. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidates will be required to undergo a basic disclosure, a security check and a health assessment. Whether the outcome is satisfactory will be determined by the University.
