Procurement Administrator


The University requires an enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills to provide first point of contact for the University Procurement team based at Greenwich House. Reporting to the Reporting & Governance Manager, they will be responsible for key administrative duties which support policies and procedures as well as maintaining a full range of relevant, purchasing information. Assisting with the dissemination of key information to enable departmental staff to make informed decisions and promote best practice procurement.

Procurement Services is a Section of the Finance Division which provides professional procurement support and advice across the whole of the non-pay expenditure to members of the University at all levels. The growing team of 13 oversees the non-pay spend and contract management of approximately £400 million pa and covers a diversity of commodities.

The successful applicant will be the 'face of procurement' and therefore confident in dealing with people, answering general procurement related questions in a timely manner deferring responses where necessary to undertake research and/or consult with others within the team. They will manage the department's mailboxes and administer the University tendering and contract management systems and processes ensuring audit trails and accuracy as well as manage the procurement dispensation process in a timely manner. The role will also require analysis of spreadsheets, providing confidence around invoice payments over £50,000 and advance payments in excess of £10,000, managing meetings and key committee papers as well as overseeing the marketing needs of the department and manage key events as part of professional team.

You should have achieved GCSE (or equivalent) passes (A-C) in English and Maths and an NVQ at Level 2 or higher (or equivalent) in Purchasing/Administration or in another relevant area. You should have excellent Microsoft office and analytical skills and be confident when using spreadsheets, databases and websites.
