We are looking for a full-time Research Associate to join the group of Dr Mike Chapman at the University of Cambridge Department of Haematology, based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The position will involve investigation and development of immunological targets in multiple myeloma, partly in collaboration with a commercial partner.
Candidates should hold a PhD (or equivalent) in a biomedical field or equivalent. Highly desirable experience includes protein expression, antibody development and testing, proteomic approaches, work with human myeloma cell lines, and genetic screens. Candidates must have relevant experience of molecular cloning, transient and stable expression of exogenous proteins in cell lines, and cytotoxicity assays. The successful candidate should also have experience of laboratory management, have communication skills and be capable of working independently and as part of a team.
The successful candidate will be expected to plan experiments both independently and in conjunction with Dr Chapman and commercial partners. They will also be responsible for the supervision of a PhD student. Other responsibilities include a wide range of tasks to ensure the smooth running of the laboratory, including ordering and preparation of reagents, maintenance of equipment, record keeping and stock control.
Fixed term: The funds for this post are available until 31st December 2018 in the first instance. Extension may be possible for at least a further two years, dependent on the successful meeting of project milestones as established by CRUK.
