The University of Cambridge Research Office wishes to appoint a Research Governance Facilitator to support the Research Governance and Integrity Officer (RGIO) in managing the Office's responsibilities across areas of research governance, research integrity and research ethics.
The role-holder will work with the RGIO to develop and deliver new means of strengthening the understanding and application of research integrity issues across the University and to ensure on-going institutional alignment with the UUK Concordat to Support Research Integrity. The post will also involve supporting the RGIO to coordinate the business of the University Research Ethics Committee, including the writing of papers, supporting meetings and providing advice on research ethics matters to staff, students and research ethics committee members.
The role-holder will assist the RGIO in providing administrative support for investigations carried out under the University's Misconduct in Research policy and providing advice on the policy across the University. The role-holder will also support or lead on, as required, the delivery of projects to meet new funder or regulatory research governance requirements.
The role-holder will be responsible for preparing briefings for senior colleagues and University committees on a range of research ethics, integrity and governance matters. They will also support the development and delivery of guidance, support and training for researchers and administrative staff and provide advice to colleagues, staff and students.
The role-holder will have excellent organizational skills and the ability to appropriately handle confidential and sensitive personal information. A familiarity with the relevant legal and regulatory requirements governing the ethical conduct of research is desirable. The role-holder will also have strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to address and communicate highly complex information to individuals and groups at all levels, ranging from technical support through to senior academics
The role-holder will be educated to degree-level or higher and experience of project management and/or handling case work or investigatory processes is desirable
