The Centre for Film and Screen in the School of Arts and Humanities seeks to appoint a University Lecturer in Film and Screen Studies. Applications from scholars working in any specialist research field in Film and Screen Studies are invited to apply, but special consideration may be given to candidates with research and teaching interests in one or more of the following areas: non-Western cinema; critical race theory; media theory; documentary.
The successful candidate will normally hold a PhD in Film and Screen Studies or a related discipline and will have a record of, or clear potential for, outstanding research in Film and Screen Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to: engage in high-level research, publish in their specialist field as well as seek opportunities to win external funding for that research; offer teaching and supervision on one or more of the undergraduate film courses that are taught in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and in the School of Arts and Humanities; contribute to the growth of their specialist field and Film and Screen Studies more broadly; assist with running the Centre for Film and Screen and the Centre's prestigious Filmmaker in Residence Programme.
The successful candidate will be expected to take up appointment on 1 September 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter.
