Library Assistant


The Education Library Team are passionate about delivering tailored and personalised information services to the Faculty which has a predominately post-graduate student profile, including many part-time and distance students. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated library assistant who has excellent verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to exemplary customer service to join our dedicated and friendly Team.

You will be based at the busy Library Welcome Desk and will assist the Team in delivering a comprehensive range of library services to the Faculty. It is important that you are able to engage with a wide range of people and can empathise with individual reader's information needs. You will assist readers with using electronic information resources as well as create and update content on the Library VLE site (Moodle). The ability to perform routine tasks accurately, such as those associated with acquisitions & bibliographic work, is essential as is the ability to work collaboratively in a team and multi-task in a busy public facing environment.

The successful candidate will be creative, resourceful and have a positive attitude to delivering library services. Some experience of working in an academic library is desirable, but the Education Library Team will provide full training and support for the role. This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to develop skills in librarianship and gain experience working in a busy, user-focused academic library.
