Applicants are invited for a post-doctoral Research Associate position in infectious diseases funded by a Biomedical Research Centre award to work with Professor Andrew Lever and Dr Mark Wills.
The project will in part be involved in carrying out laboratory assays associated with the RIVER study investigating HIV eradication (http://www.ctu.mrc.ac.uk/ourresearch/researchareas/hiv/studies/river/).
In addition, the successful applicant will develop a research theme around mechanisms of latency, more effective approaches to reactivating HIV from latency and allowing efficient T cell recognition and clearance of these HIV bearing cells.
The position requires a post-doctoral scientist with excellent laboratory skills in addition to a virological and/or immunological background and a strong interest in HIV latency. Experience working with primary blood samples and cell separation techniques as well as cell culture is essential. Experience with HIV under Containment Level 3 (CL3) conditions would be advantageous however training to work at CL3 would be provided if necessary.
The post is available from November 2017.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2022 in the first instance.
