The MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit (MRC CBU) is an internationally renowned research institute with state-of-the-art cognitive neuroscience facilities. Applications are invited for a Senior IT Support Technician to join a small team responsible for the development, implementation, management, and maintenance of the unit's diverse IT facilities. Working as a part of the computing group, your responsibilities will include planning, installing, and maintaining the computing services that are essential to the overall research strategy of the unit, including core IT infrastructure services, network services, data storage, high performance computing, web services, and user desktop systems. The successful candidate is expected to be highly motivated, creative and capable of contributing productively in a team environment. They should be well organised, pragmatic, and have good problem solving skills.
You will have significant systems support/development experience in either a commercial, academic or research environment, with extensive experience of IT systems administration and development, including experience of diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware, software and networking problems. A degree in Computing Science or an equivalent subject in a scientific discipline would be desirable.
