Applications are invited for the position of Receptionist at the Institute of Criminology. This is a full-time permanent position and is available from 1st October, 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The Institute carries out almost exclusively postgraduate teaching, consisting of two full time MPhil Courses, two part-time M.St courses for senior criminal justice practitioners and one PhD programme. The Institute has over 70 members of staff (academic, research and administrative/library staff) and is highly active in research and is home to six specialist research centres.
The role-holder will provide a reception and clerical service for the Institute, in order to provide a welcoming and efficient service to visitors and staff. This is a busy and varied role involving daily communication with staff, visitors, prospective and current students, and so the role holder must have excellent organisational and customer service skills and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
The role-holder must be educated to GCSE level / NVQ level 2 or have an equivalent level of practical experience. Excellent customer service skills are essential as is the ability to deal with a wide range of people at all levels, both internally and externally.
Previous reception or office experience is essential, and experience of a simiar role within a University environment would be highly desirable.
