A Teaching Laboratory Technician is required to join a small team servicing undergraduate practical classes in the Department of Biochemistry. During University term time the role assists in the preparation of reagents and equipment allocation for classes, setting out of teaching materials, ensuring equipment is in good working order and answering student enquiries. Out of term it is anticipated that the role holder will support external events held within the department and/or provide support to research labs.
This requires a conscientious, accurate and methodical approach and the ability to work to deadlines, sometimes under pressure. Manual dexterity and good communication and IT skills are essential as well as the ability to function efficiently in a small team.
Ideally you will have studied to A Level/ BTEC or equivalent in Chemistry or Biology although applicants educated to GCSE level in relevant subjects and with experience in molecular biology and biochemical techniques will also be considered for this role. Previous experience in a laboratory environment would be advantageous.
This is a full-time position initially funded for one year.
