An excellent opportunity has arisen to play a key part in the Procurement Team with specific responsibility for Category Management. You will be expected to actively participate, advise and support procurement activity in the nominated category. Key areas include tender preparation and management through the full procurement cycle, planning, financial reporting of savings and other spend data, Dispensation processing, framework mini competitions and desktop comparisons, and supporting the Deputy Head of Procurement services as required in other aspects of category management. You will also support the Head of Procurement with data and feedback on your category as required. The role holder also acts as a key contact point for scientific capital equipment procurement activities across the University. To this end, you will maintain excellent relationships with the wider procurement team, counterparts in other institutions, and stakeholders at all levels internally and externally including suppliers, and other relevant third party organisations as required e.g. consortia. Educated to A level standard or higher, and will be part or fully CIPS qualified you will have a minimum of two years of procurement experience and will be a team player. The performance of the role will have excellent organisational and people management skills and the ability to work on your own initiative, prioritise work and keep sometimes tight deadlines. Previous experience of the University's systems is desirable, along with knowledge of the higher education environment. Scientific background or experience would be desirable.
