The Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages Library is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated library assistant to join our dedicated and friendly Library team.
Key duties for this post include providing a welcoming first point of contact to the Library's users, using the Library's automated system to carry out all aspects of circulation services, answering enquiries, promoting Library services and resources, and creating and uploading content on the VLE (Moodle).
The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as a demonstrable commitment to providing an excellent customer service. We are looking for someone proactive with the ability to think creatively, to problem-solve, and able to adapt quickly to changes in a busy work environment.
Accuracy and attention to detail are essential in all aspects of the role, as is the ability to work independently and cooperatively in a small team.
Previous experience of working in a library in a customer service role is highly desirable.
The basic working pattern will be 8:40-1:00 and 2:00-4:00. Some evening and Saturday working will be required on a rota basis, with compensating time off in lieu. The Library is open on both May Bank Holidays and work may be required then.
