An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a key part supporting the Head of Department in Psychiatry with overall strategy and development, and specific responsibility for the administration and management of the Department.
You will be expected to actively participate and inform decision making at a senior level with the Department and will have responsibilities over key areas including: business planning, financial management, personnel, education, estates and health & safety. To support these activities you will directly manage a team of administrators, delegating and coordinating responsibilities amongst this team.
The role holder also acts as the senior administrative liaison between the Department and the Clinical School, wider University, hospital and NHS trusts and other scientific communities and organisations. To this end, you will maintain excellent relationships with a wide body of agencies, funders, donors and local NHS trusts.
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with experience of strategic planning and successful project management. You will have excellent organisational and people management skills and the ability to work on your own initiative, prioritise work and keep sometimes tight deadlines. Previous experience of the Universities systems would be an advantage, along with knowledge of the higher education environment.
